Some bullet points:

• Discipline and fun will be the watchwords for the weekend. With a large group that we have we will have to guard against idleness.
• We need to be ever watchfull and pull in the SPL and ASPLS when we need an activity. Sam and his asssistants will have activities.
• We want we to have advancement opportunities when we see scouts not actively engaged.
• We have the team assignments Advisors as well as Patrol Advisors that we need to have working this weekend. I will send a note to all scouts reminding them to bring their books.
• We will have Scoutmaster conference sign ups friday night and we will need to make time for that during the weekend.

Attached is the schedule and the competition details. Become very familiar with these.

Here is how I see assignments (these may change)

Team Advisors:

Gateway : Jim A and Doug
Pioneer Camp Set Up : Scott Michael
Cooking Team : Mike & Jack (Jack until Mike arrives).
Catapult : Randy
Flour war ammunition : Jim C

Campsite layout : David (prepare for campsite inspection).

Build campfire Saturday from 5 -6 pm: Jay and Chris - Geckos and Troop Guides (Sam will know where to get the wood and where it is to be built).

Patrol Advisors: (this assignment may not be your normal patrol)

Polar Bears : Jack

Cobra : Mark

Wolves (aka Beavers) : Carl

Eagles : Drew

Geckos : Jay and Chris

QM staff : Mike, Luke, Dan, Jerry, Tom, Kyle (Mike coming Saturday).

Notes for the SPL

• We don't want the "boxer brigade" left on their own again - make sure Preston and Emory have them covered and they are reporting their planned movements to them - they have know where the Eagle and Cobra Patrols are and what they are doing at all times.
• Lashing on friday - again, make sure Andy has the people he needs to be lashing. He and his team will also have to load lashing spars on the the trailer when Mr Michael or Mr Allison (not sure who) bring it around. You will not be doing things - only overseeing and coaching.
• Seating assignments : We have the 2 buses (25 + 14 passenger seats in each) - let me know what patrols will ride where. Some scouts will go in private vehicles - you need to decide who. Mr Hutchinson is compiling a list of what private vehicles will be driving.
• Friday night - will have a PLC. Have Preston run that - he needs to give you the agenda. Coach him on what needs to be talked about. I suggest communicating the weekend's program and assignments to the PLC. Make sure Ian Allison is there to represent the Troop Guides (Max can help him).
• Saturday morning we also need to have our own troop flag cermony and troop meeting. Communicate enthusiasm and ensure we are all here to have FUN. Re-iterate that discipline is key - anyone stepping out of bounds WILL be sent home. Plan what time the PLC should be.
• Tenting - as we discussed, make sure the scouts are well mixed and spread out as patrols. we'd like to have the new scouts and older boys patrols mixing. Also need to make sure we have tents for the new scouts.
• Campfire planning : Have Emory get the skits from Daniel and fill out the form that the camporee staff require from us.
• Make sure Max has the campfire wood and knows where to build the fire. We will find out Friday night when you and I go to the cracker barrell.
